Lexington One serves all qualified academically gifted and talented students in the E.A.G.L.E.program, “Educational Activities Geared for Learning Excellence,” beginning in grade three.  The mission of gifted education is to maximize the potential of gifted and talented students by providing academic and artistic programs and services that match the unique characteristics and needs of these students.  The EAGLE program seeks to develop talent, provide depth of study, set an appropriate pace for instruction, integrate complexity into the curriculum and show students how to deal with issues of significance.  Identified gifted students spend a specific amount of instructional time each week with an EAGLE teacher.  These high ability students are actively engaged in an accelerated and enriched curriculum.

I am thrilled to be starting my 23rd year at Midway. I will be teaching 4th and 5th graders in the gifted program, as well as 2nd grade classes in the Brain Boosters program. I received my undergraduate and graduate degrees in elementary education from the University of South Carolina. I also have my gifted endorsement. I am married and have two daughters that attended Midway when they were in elementary school. Currently, my oldest daughter is a physical therapist in Greenville, SC while my youngest daughter is pursuing her graduate degree in physical therapy at USC. My pets include fish and 3 cats named Snickers, Max, and Olive. I enjoy reading, walking, gardening, traveling, and attending Gamecock athletic events. Another one of my favorite activities is teaching Tech-Know Time LEGO robotics camps. I am passionate about teaching children through hands-on activities and technology. I am looking forward to an exciting school year.
