Music

Roger Keane

This will be my fifth year of teaching elementary music at Midway after 13 years as a Band Director, 8 of which were here in Lexington 1 at Carolina Springs Middle School. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from the University of South Carolina, where I performed in the Mighty Sound of the Southeast, the USC Symphony, the Symphonic Band, and the Pinnacle Brass. I also have a Master's Degree in Elementary Administration from USC, and I continue to perform with the Palmetto Concert Band and in my church's music ministry. I am delighted to be part of the Mustang Family here at MES and am looking forward to making music with your children this year!

I am excited to be teaching music at Midway!  I come to MES from Central Services where I served as the Lead Teacher for the Visual and Performing Arts for over 10 years. Prior to that, I taught music at Lake Murray, Oak Grove, and Red Bank Elementary.  What an honor it is for me to join the Mustang family!

I knew at 10 years old that I wanted to be a music teacher!  A Virginia native, I attended the University of South Carolina and earned my Bachelor’s degree in Music Education in 1998 and my Master’s Degree in Educational Administration in 2005.  Go Gamecocks!

I met my husband Allen my first week at USC and together we have our son Nathan, our daughter Bellamy, and our cat Rupert.

Outside of school, I teach children's music and direct the handbell choir for my church. I serve as a Girl Scout leader, cheer on the Atlanta Braves, and enjoy planning our family vacations.

I look forward to an exciting and music filled school year! Go Mustangs!
