Carla Thauberger

Greetings!  My name is Carla Thauberger and I’m thrilled to be at Midway Elementary School!  I’m originally from Canada, but have been living in the USA for nearly 20 years.  In my career as a teacher, I’ve taught all ages from toddlers to Post-Secondary.  I found my path to teaching ML’s while I was living in Japan and experienced what it was like to move to another country and to try to navigate life in another language - one I didn’t speak before arriving.  When my students struggle with learning English or with adjusting to a new culture, it is easy for me to understand how they feel since I've lived it myself.   

I’m inspired daily by my students and consider it such a privilege to be a part of their journey in the USA.   I have taught English Learners my entire career and I feel incredibly lucky to be able to do what I love each day.  I look forward to getting to know you and building relationships in the MES community!
